New York City Gay Men’s Chorus today announced that Coro Gay Ciudad de México will be guest stars at Big Gay Sing®, its annual sing-along extravaganza from March 24 - 26 at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. This year titled Big Gay Sing: Welcome to New York, the show celebrates the greatest city on Earth while also sending a very powerful message about New York's values.
"The show will celebrate New York as a vibrant, outward-looking city, with multiculturalism at the heart of its success," said Charlie Beale, Artistic Director of NYCGMC.
"As a chorus with an international reach and the power to make an impact at this very sensitive time, NYCGMC is uber-excited to invite our brothers from Coro Gay Ciudad de México to be center stage in New York City as our guests of honor. We're delighted to have them because they sound amazing and, you know, screw walls!" Beale added. Big Gay Sing: Welcome to New York will feature arrangements of chart-toppers by Alicia Keys, Ella Fitzgerald, Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles, plus some Spanish-language hits and more surprises. "The arrangements, the immensity of the sound, and the sparkle from the performers will have you jumping to your feet," Beale further commented.
Big Gay Sing, an NYCGMC original concept and now in its ninth year, has become New York’s greatest way to welcome spring. Its outrageous sing-along format has become so popular that Big Gay Sing has been franchised to choruses around the US and the world.
“The mission of NYCGMC is to champion acceptance, equality, and the power of sensational music to bring about positive change. Big Gay Sing demonstrates that we can put on a spectacular show while making an important difference,” said Lisa Reilly, Executive Director of Big Apple Performing Arts.
Big Gay Sing: Welcome to New York will be performed at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at 8pm Friday March 24 and Saturday March 25, and Sunday March 26 at 3pm. Tickets are now available at nycgmc.org.
