Mission Statement

Out in the Community (OC), a tributary group of the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, seeks to encourage, promote and perpetuate a positive image of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, through outreach performances focused on the diversity within the LGBT community.

OC will strive to fight negative stereotypes and show gay men and lesbians as they are: loving, caring, inspiring, and encouraging. The group will provide the LGBT community as well as New York City at large with a rewarding musical experience coming from the heart. OC aims to help those less fortunate, as it participates in various programs raising awareness and financial support for causes throughout all five boroughs in the greater New York area.
