Service on the BAPA Board is both challenging and highly rewarding. The primary board functions are:
- to ensure that the NYCGMC mission is achieved,
- to take an active leadership role in fund development,
- to protect the fiduciary and legal interests of the organization,
- to engage in long-term planning, and
- to strengthen itself through on-going board development and self-evaluation.
Five or six meetings plus a weekend retreat are held each year.
Standing committees include Board Development, Finance, Human Resources, Planned Giving and Audience Development.
Individuals who believe in the BAPA mission, who can provide access to financial and other resources and/or possess a needed professional expertise, and who are willing to attend meetings regularly and serve on one committee, are ideal board candidates. It is also expected that directors make BAPA a personal priority in their charitable giving.
