Broadway Voices

Broadway Voices is a select group of professional and semi-professional actor/singers, all of whom are also singing members of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus (NYCGMC). Our musical theatre and cabaret repertoire offers a unique twist to the traditionally co-ed Broadway songbook that enables us to collaborate with top composers and performers around New York City.

In 2010, Broadway Voices expanded from a quartet to 10 singers and performed a tribute to Tony Award winner William Finn, "What More Can I Say? The Songs of William Finn," at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. William Finn is the writer and composer of Falsettos, In Trousers, March of the Falsettos, Falsettoland, Elegies, Romance in Hard Times, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and the upcoming production of Little Miss Sunshine. The group, joined by Adam West Hemming as Musical Director and arranger for this exciting production, was very proud to have the opportunity to work with Mr. Finn during the rehearsal process.

In 2009, Broadway Voices performed "I Want it All – A Maltby and Shire Songbook" at NY's Metropolitan Room and Don't Tell Mama, and appeared on WFUV radio as well as at the Bryant Park Gay Pride Rally. The group was also invited to join an all-star cast at the renowned Merkin Hall "Broadway Up-Close" evening with Richard Maltby, Jr. and David Shire, performing with Broadway stars Sally Mayes, Lynne Wintersteller, Martin Vidnovic, Loni Ackerman and Gretchen Cryer as well as Mssrs. Maltby and Shire.

In addition to our own performances, Broadway Voices often performs at main-stage performances of the NYCGMC and can add a unique sound to any private or exclusive event. To inquire about booking Broadway Voices please contact the NYCGMC office at 212-344-1777 ext 1.
